December 6, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
St. Charles Chill News Release
St. Charles, Mo. - Anthony Perdicaro scored as the first skater in the shootout and rookie Linus Lundin picked up his first win as a professional by pitching a shutout in the extra session that saw St. Charles hold off the Denver Cutthroats by a final of 3-2
Denver got the scoring started late in the first when league leading scorer Garett Bembridge tallied his 17th of the season for a 1-0 Cutthroat lead. St. Charles entered the night having played in 11 one-goal games and kept it at 1-0 until late in the second when Steven Anthony tied it up.
Anthony got the puck on his stick from Nicklas Lindberg, playing his first game for St. Charles, and buried a snap shot over the glove hand of Denver goalie Kent Patterson with 44 seconds left in the second. The goal was Anthony's second, and sixth point, in his seventh game played for the Chill.
St. Charles (4-10-4) took the lead early in the third. Zack Josepher skated in from the left wall and ripped a shot past Patterson for the first goal and point of his career, giving the Chill a 2-1 lead in the third period.
Denver (10-6-4) brought the top power play unit into the game but the Chill turned aside three man-downs in the third before Bembridge netted the tying goal with under five minutes remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime period Perdicaro did not waste any time taking the lead before Lundin, who stopped 33-of-35 shots, turned aside five more in the shootout for his first professional win with his father watching back home in Sweden.
The Chill is back on the ice Saturday night at 7:05 against the Denver Cutthroats immediately following the inaugural Missouri College Hockey Showdown between the Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Billikens that gets underway at 4:00. Single-game tickets start as low as $5 and are available through MetroTix and at The Family Arena box office. $10 lower bowl tickets are available at the box office for all Missouri and St. Louis students, alumni, and friends and The Family Arena will have the SEC Championship game on the TVs during the matchup.
