Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Williamsport City Council unanimously approved a new 5-year lease with the Williamsport Crosscutters for the use of Bowman Field.

The agreement extends the lease through the 2009 season and calls for a joint effort by the city and team to generate additional revenue sources for the facility.

Cutters President Paul Velte was pleased with the negotiations and the renewal. "Working with the administration to get this put together was a good experience. Both sides were able to voice their opinions and get things done to the betterment of all. We have been happy with our 11 years in Williamsport and hope we have become an important part of the fabric of the Susquehanna Valley. To be able to call Historic Bowman Field our home is a great thrill and our organization pledges to continue to do whatever we can to help make the facility even better in the coming years."

The Crosscutters announced in August a 2-year extension of their working agreement with the Pittsburgh Pirates covering the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The team captured the NY-P title in 2001 and 2003 and finished with a record of 34-40 in 2004.
