Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Calgary, Alberta -- Thursday was the Western Hockey League's annual Overage Cutdown Draft Day with several players being moved.
The two busiest teams were the Saskatoon Blades and Moose Jaw Warriors.
Moose Jaw acquired overage netminder Jordan McLaughlin, a 5-year WHL veteran and 20-year old defenceman Dan Ehrman for basically what turned out to be nothing. Both players had been released by their respective WHL clubs - the Prince George Cougars and Tri-City Americans.
The Blades meanwhile sent a pair of draft picks to the Brandon Wheat Kings for overage blueliner Tyler Boldt. Saskatoon also picked up often injured left-winger Jamison Orr, who joins his fifth WHL organization in three years.
In one other move, the defending champion Medicine Hat Tigers obtained 20-year old forward Paul Gentile, who had been let go by the Calgary Hitmen.
Several other players were released as clubs trimmed down to their league limit of three overage players.
Brandon will go with captain Tim Konsorada as well as blueliners Steven Later and Andre Blanchette.
The Wheat Kings host Saskatoon tonight in a battle for first place at the Keystone Centre. The Blades are currently one point ahead of Brandon in the Eastern Division.
