
Curve To Host New High School All-Star Baseball Game

ALTOONA, PA - The Altoona Curve and corporate partner S&T Bank are proudly teaming up to provide the area's best local high school baseball talent a chance to display their skills as part of a brand-new All-Star Classic at Blair County Ballpark. The inaugural S&T Bank Altoona Curve High School All Star Baseball Classic will be held on Sunday, June 22nd and will feature a collection of the region's top graduating senior high school players.
The All-Star Classic will pit 30 top players from across PIAA Districts 5, 6 and 9 in an exhibition game, which will be played as part of a day/night doubleheader with the Curve's June 22nd home contest against the Bowie Baysox. The game time for the inaugural S&T Bank Altoona Curve High School All-Star Baseball Classic will be announced at a later date.
The two teams will be geographically divided from across the region and will be comprised of 15 players on each roster who will be selected by a panel of high school athletic directors and coaches within the three districts. Senior players from all classifications within Districts 5, 6 and 9 will be eligible to participate in the event and will be selected based on the recommendations of their coaches.

In addition to the all-star showcase, the Curve and Blair County Ballpark will play host a bevy of scholastic baseball events during the 2008 season. The Dean Patterson Curve Classic which will be held April 25-27 is an eight-team tournament that has become one of the most popular and prestigious tournaments in Central and Western Pennsylvania. The PIAA District VI Championship games have been, and will continue to be held at Blair County Ballpark. This year's championships will be held on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29. In addition, for the fourth consecutive year, all four PIAA State Championship games will be played at Blair County Ballpark on Friday, June 13.
More information regarding the time of the game, the naming of the coaches and rosters for both squads will be announced at a later date.
