Altoona Curve News Release

The Altoona Curve's annual National Anthem Tryouts will take place this Saturday, January 12th from 9 a.m. to Noon near the Curve Stockyard location inside the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona.

The auditions, which are free and open to the public, will assist the club in filling several of the 71 opportunities to sing the National Anthem prior to a 2008 Curve home game at Blair County Ballpark.

All tryouts will be a capella and the anthem can be done solo, with a chorus, or as an instrumental. A panel of guest judges will rate the performances to help determine the roster of anthem singers who will perform the Star Spangled Banner throughout the Curve's Tenth Anniversary Season in 2008.

Guest judges for this year's tryouts will include Patrick Schurr and Brian Schroeder from WTAJ-TV 10, Adam Erikson from the Q-94 FM Morning Show, Dick DiAndrea from the "Rog & Dick Morning Show" on WALY 103.9 FM and Tommi Burchfield from United Way of Blair County.

In addition to the auditions, the Curve will have other activities for fans, including visits from mascots Steamer and Diesel Dawg, door prizes and other fun events.

As part of the event and the upcoming move of the Curve Stockyard location from the Logan Valley Mall back to Blair County Ballpark, the Curve will be holding a special 40% off Moving Sale throughout the Anthem Tryouts. In addition, game-worn Curve jerseys will be available for purchase, featuring both the club's black and green alternate tops.
