Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA - The Altoona Curve split a double-header with the Erie SeaWolves Sunday at Blair County Ballpark. In front of 7,517 the Curve won the first contest in their final turn at-bat, 4-3, but fell in the nightcap, 9-2.

Melvin Dorta's dramatic, walk-off, solo home run off of SeaWolves' reliever Casey Fien (0-1) in the bottom of the eighth inning powered Altoona to the victory. Dorta finished game one with a 3-for-4 day, driving in two runs. The Curve and SeaWolves had been tied 3-3 since the third inning before Dorta's blast.

Jason Delaney also had a big day in the first game, as the Curve first baseman extended his on-base streak to 15 consecutive games with 3-for-4 performance.

Starter Kyle Bloom pitched four innings and allowed just two earned runs. Dave Davidson tossed three scoreless frames, punching out four batters in relief. Chris Hernandez (4-0) threw a perfect inning to secure his team-leading fourth win of the season.

In the nightcap, Pittsburgh native Brian Holliday (0-1) started for Altoona and took the loss in his Double-A debut. A four-run, six-hit attack by the SeaWolves in the first inning was too much for the Curve to overcome. Holliday left after 3 2/3 innings.

Chris Castorri and Ronald Belisario each allowed a pair of runs in relief.

Brad Corley recorded hits in both games of the double-header, extending his team-high hitting streak to 11 games. Delaney and Luis Cruz provided the offense for the Curve with RBI singles.

Erie's Luke French (2-2) tossed a complete game, as the southpaw scattered just five hits over his seven innings of work.

The Curve hit the road for eight games, playing four each in Akron and Reading starting Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Altoona will send right-hander Yoslan Herrera (1-3, 3.96) to the mound against Akron righty Kevin Dixon (0-3, 6.31). Coverage of Monday's game on flagship station WHPA-FM, 93.5 and the Curve Radio Network will begin at 6:50 p.m.
