GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Thursday announced the hiring of Kevin Curnow as the team's director of fan experience. In this newly created position, Curnow will be responsible for planning and managing all aspects of the Griffins' game-night operations, including promotions and in-arena entertainment.

A 20-year veteran of the radio industry, Curnow spent the last four years with Regent Broadcasting of Grand Rapids as promotions director at WGRD-FM/WNWZ-AM. He created the city's first Halloween Parade through the Eastown area in 2005 and oversaw the station's free concert series, in addition to serving as an on-air host and assistant producer of WGRD's charitable "Bootleg" CDs.

Prior to arriving in West Michigan, Curnow served as promotions and marketing director for KLPX & KCMT in Tucson, Ariz. He also spent 10 years in Chicago, starting with the launch of a campus station (WXAV-FM) at Saint Xavier University, and continuing with work in programming, promotions and market research at Chicago's country station US*99 and smooth-jazz WNUA.

Curnow, a native of Utica, Mich., earned a bachelor's in communications from Oakland University and studied telecommunications as a graduate student at Michigan State University, where he served as the student liaison overseeing the launch of the school's student-run FM radio station
