Clearwater Threshers News Release

DUNEDIN, Fla. - Grenny Cumana and Raul Rivas finished with two hits apiece, and Mauricio Llovera spun a solid five innings, but the Clearwater Threshers dropped the series after a 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays at Dunedin Stadium on Thursday night.

After the Threshers (11-9) (43-45) suffered just one shutout loss through their first 83 games, Clearwater was blanked three times in the four-game set at Dunedin.

Jaime Garcia started and worked the first inning, setting the Threshers down in order in his first rehab appearance for the Blue Jays.

Dunedin (14-7) (45-44) struck for the game's first run in the bottom of the first, after Riley Adams led off with a double down the first base line. Kacy Clemens followed with a single to left-center, scoring Adams.

Alberto Mineo was hit by a pitch from Llovera (2-7), and with two down, Ivan Castillo singled through the left side. Cumana came up firing from left, nabbing Clemens at the plate to keep the deficit at one.

Kevin Smith made it 2-0 Dunedin in the third, jumping on the first pitch of the frame and homering out to right.

Llovera would give Clearwater five innings in the start, permitting two runs on six hits and a pair of walks. He picked up four strikeouts in the loss.

The Blue Jays' final run came in the sixth against reliever Alberto Tirado, following a two-out error. An RBI single from Castillo made it 3-0.

Will Hibbs made his first appearance for Clearwater since June 10, tossing a perfect eighth.

Zach Logue (5-2) earned the win for the Blue Jays, holding Clearwater scoreless on seven hits in six innings. The lefty matched a season high with seven strikeouts.

The road trip continues on Friday, as the Threshers head to Kissimmee to open a three-game series with the Florida Fire Frogs. First pitch in the opener is set for 6:31 p.m.
