
Cubs take down Zephyrs

The New Orleans Zephyrs fell to the visiting Iowa Cubs on Saturday by a score of 2-1.
Iowa starting pitcher Kevin Hart (4-1) gets the win after allowing one run on six hits in six innings of play. Hart also got a single and scored a run offensively. Relief pitcher Rocky Cherry picked up his sixth save of the year after striking out two to in the final two outs of the game.
Shortstop Ronny Cedeno provided the only RBI for the I-Cubs, with the remaining margin of victory coming off of a throwing error in the third inning on the same play.
Zephyrs starting pitcher Dave Williams (2-4) had a solid start but recorded a loss after giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits in seven innings. Williams struck out eight Iowa batters in the game.
The only run the Zephyrs scored was driven in by catcher Shawn Wooten, who went 2-4 overall on the night.
The loss evens the series at 2-2. The teams will face complete their five-game set on Sunday in New Orleans with a game scheduled for 2:00 PM CT. It will be the final Zephyrs home game of the regular season.
