Tucson Sidewinders News Release
Las Vegas, NV - Marshall McDougall's base hit to centerfield in the bottom of the 10th inning plated Delwyn Young with the winning run as the Las Vegas 51's defeated the Sidewinders 3-2 on Friday night.
Young doubled to right to open the 10th against D.J. Carrasco and moved to third on John Lindsey's fly ball to right. Carrasco (5-13) then gave up McDougall's base hit to give the 51's just their fourth extra inning win of the season in their 11th try.
The Sidewinders posted just two hits in the game against Miguel Pinango and the Las Vegas bullpen. Ronnie Merrill's base hit to right in the top of the fifth was the Sidewinders first hit of the game and scored their first run, and Jarred Ball's pinch hit solo home run to left in the eighth was their final hit of the night.
Pinango walked three and struck out two in seven strong innings. Dana Eveland tossed five innings of four hit, one run baseball in his start for the Sidewinders.
The Sidewinders and 51's play game four of their five game series on Saturday night at Cashman Field. Left-hander Bill Murphy (2-3, 3.80) starts for Tucson against right-hander D.J. Houlton (6-4, 3.87) for Las Vegas. First pitch is at 7:11. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:55.
