New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Metairie, LA - Chicago Cubs All-Star pitcher Mark Prior is scheduled to make a rehab start against the New Orleans Zephyrs on Tuesday, June 13th at 7:00 PM as a member of the Iowa Cubs. The Zephyrs are offering a non-refundable discount to the game - all reserved tickets will be only $5.
Prior has been on the Disabled List the entire 2006 season with a sore right shoulder, and is also making rehab starts with the Cubs' Single-A affiliate in Peoria, IL and the Double-A affiliate in Jackson, TN.
Prior was named to the National League All-Star team and was third in Cy Young voting in 2003 - his first full major league season. In 2005 Prior went 11-7 with a 3.67 ERA - his second career double-digit win season despite starting the year on the DL with an elbow injury.
This is the second time Prior is scheduled to play at Zephyr Field - he faced Houston Astros star and former Zephyrs pitcher Wade Miller on May 17, 2002 before a crowd of almost 9,000. Prior suffered the loss after giving up five runs on six hits in four innings of play.
Prior will be the second high-profile big league pitcher the Zephyrs are scheduled to face, as they will also face Roger Clemens in a game at Round Rock, TX against the Round Rock Express on Friday, June 16th.
