The Iowa Cubs hit four home runs on their way to a 12-1 win over the Oklahoma RedHawks Saturday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Jake Fox hit three homers on the night, finishing 3-for-5 with six RBIs.
Oklahoma (59-59) broke open a scoreless game on a Desi Relaford solo shot in the fourth inning. The RedHawks wouldn't get another runner past second base the rest of the game.
Iowa (67-54) took the lead in the sixth inning, with four runs on five hits, including Fox's first homer of the night, off starter Eric Hurley. The Cubs added three more in the seventh off reliever Randy Williams when Fox connected for a three-run homer.
Iowa added five more in the eighth off reliever Steve Rowe on five hits including two more home runs. Eight of nine Cubs had at least one hit in the game.
J.R. Mathes (10-6) picked up the win, allowing one run on five hits in seven innings. Hurley (2-6) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in six innings.
Game 3 of the series is Sunday at 2:05 pm CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
