Iowa Cubs News Release

Oklahoma City, OK - The Chicago Cubs have activated RH Rodrigo Lopez from Iowa's disabled list today and reassigned RH Shane Lindsay to extended spring training in Mesa. Lopez will start tonight in the Cubs' series opener against the Oklahoma City RedHawks.

Lopez was placed on the D.L. on May 26 with a strained right groin muscle. He suffered the injury on the first pitch of his last start on May 25 at Memphis. Lopez is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA in seven games (five starts) with Iowa. He began the season with Chicago and was 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in four games before getting designated for assignment on April 23.

The Cubs just signed Lindsay and assigned him to Iowa on Wednesday. He was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers after eight games with Albuquerque. Lindsay made his Cubs' debut in game two of Thursday night's double-header at Omaha. He was charged with four runs on a hit and four walks without recording an out.

The Cubs open a four-game series with the RedHawks at Newcastle Field at Bricktown tonight. Game time is 7:05. The game will be broadcast live on AM 940 with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show starting at 6:45.
