(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver, BC) - An eight-run outburst in the top of the 5th inning helped Spokane spoil the Vancouver Canadians home opener on Monday night as the Indians ran away with a 10-1 victory out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium in front of 5,157 fans.

Canadians starter LHP Bobby Brosnahan weaved his way through the first three innings of Monday's game without allowing a run, but ran into trouble in the top of the 4th inning when RF Ryan Cordell smacked an RBI single to put the Indians up 1-0, the first time they would hold a lead in 2013.

Brosnahan would get chased from the game in the top of the 5th inning along with reliever RHP Tim Brechbuehler as Spokane would send 15 hitters to the plate producing eight (8) runs to extend their lead to 9-0.

The C's only offence came in the home half of the 8th inning when OF Nico Taylor scored on a wild pitch after hitting a leadoff triple.

Indians starter RHP David Ledbetter shut down Vancouver over the first three innings, and the bullpen followed his lead. In total, Spokane pitchers allowed only five hits and struck out 12.

Vancouver's pitching settled down after the big inning, as RHP Alvido Jimenez, RHP Markus Brisker, RHP Justin James and RHP Brandon Dorsett combined to allow only three hits and one run over four innings of work.

With the loss, Vancouver falls to 1-3 (.250) on the 2013 season, while Spokane picked up their first win of the season to move to 1-3 (.250).
