
C's Drop Game One Of Double Header 6-5 To Eugene

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - In a game that saw four lead changes, the Eugene Emeralds (1-0) found their way to a 6-5 victory over the Vancouver Canadians (0-1) in an extra innings thriller out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium in game one of a double header on Tuesday.
The Canadians opened up the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning when RF Nick Baligod hit his 7th double of the summer scoring SS Jorge Flores who was hit by a RHP Genison Reyes pitch to start off the home half of the 1st inning.
Eugene responded with a trio of runs in the top of the 3rd inning which included a two-run double off the bat of SS River Stevens that scored both LF Jeremy Baltz and SS Jon Roof to give the Emeralds a 3-1 lead.
The Canadians would grab their first lead of the night when they scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th inning when LF Matt Newman hit a two-run triple plating both CF Ian Parmley and RF Nicholas Baligod to give Vancouver a 4-3 lead.
Both RHP Ian Kadish of the Canadians and Eugene's RHP Roman Madrid would blow save opportunities sending the game into extra innings as the seven inning game went to the 9th inning where the Emeralds would grab the 6-5 victory. LF Jeremy Baltz would grab a one-out single off of Vancouver reliever RHP Matt Johnson and then come around to count on a double off the bat of DH Dane Phillips.
With the loss, Vancouver falls to 0-1 (.000) on the second half of the Northwest League season while the Emeralds improve to 1-0 (1.000).
