Colorado Crush News Release

Denver, Colo. - The Colorado Crush and the Utah Blaze completed the first of two scheduled scrimmages on Tuesday at the South Suburban Sports Dome in Centennial. It was the first inter-squad practice for either team since training camp opened two weeks ago. Players took part in one-on-one drills and some light team drills today before a full, clocked scrimmage tomorrow.

Blaze head coach Danny White will bring his team back into the bubble tomorrow for the Crush's final scrimmage prior to the start of the 2008 season on March 2nd against Columbus.

"We need these kinds of game situations before the start of the season to get on the same page," quarterback John Dutton said. "This close to the season, the intensity ought to be high and it should be a lot of fun to go out there and hit somebody else."

The scrimmage tomorrow will have more of a pre-season feel as coaches look to make final evaluations of talent going into the final cut-down of the season next Monday. Full pads, full rules and full contact will all be incorporated into the more intense, game-like scrimmage.

"When you are going against someone new, you really get a more realistic evaluation of a guy," Head Coach Mike Dailey said. "For some guys you might start to say 'This guy is probably not going to be able to help us much,' for other guys you say 'Well, he is pretty good,' and for vets you start to say 'He might have some gas left in the tank.'"
