Syracuse, NY (August 22, 2002) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have joined forces with fan favorite David Ling to form Linger's Wingers.

Linger's Wingers is a grassroots, community based hosting program that is designed for underprivileged youths and their families and area community groups, to attend a Crunch game during the 2002-03 season on behalf of David Ling.

David kicked off the program by purchasing four season tickets in the newly created Linger's Wingers section of the War Memorial at Oncenter. Crunch President and CEO Howard Dolgon, NCS Healthcare and Dunkin' Donuts all matched David's initial purchase.

In addition to the tickets, the Linger's Wingers guests will receive an autographed gift from the Crunch and a chance to visit David and some of his teammates after the game.

David is challenging all local businesses (and individuals) to join him by supporting the Linger's Wingers program.

"Growing up, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to appreciate the game of hockey both as a player and a fan," said David. "Unfortunately, not all children are as lucky as I was. Many kids will never have the opportunity to attend a hockey game, simply because their families are unable to afford the price of admission. That's why I decided to create this program and I'm encouraging Central New York businesses and individuals to become part of it."

The Linger's Wingers program is part of the Crunch Foundation, whose primary purpose is to donate time, resources and financial support to organizations throughout Central New York by utilizing the unique resources of its professional athletes, coaches and staff to improve the quality of life throughout the community.
