Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD-Berkshire Black Bears starting pitcher Jackson Crowther has been named to the 2002 Northern League East All Star team. In the first half of the 90 game Northern League East season Crowther posted a 5-3 record with a 2.69 ERA. The Northern League All-Star game will be played in Quebec City, Quebec on August 6th.
Crowther, who originally came to the Black Bears as a reliever, quickly became a starting pitcher in the rotation after showing his skills at striking out hitters. Since becoming a starter, opposing batters are hitting only .221 against him. In addition to great control, Crowther has shown he is durable, pitching no fewer than 6 innings in each of his last 7 starts.
Crowther resides in Riverside California where he attended Cal-Riverside University. He was selected by the Montreal Expos following the 1999 college season. He spent most of his Montreal career in Florida pitching in the South Atlantic League.
