Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Veteran Waterloo Black Hawks goaltender Emmett Croteau will enter the 2021/22 United States Hockey League season committed to Clarkson University.

The Bonneyville, Alberta native recently shared his college decision on social media, just over a week before Black Hawks players arrive in the Cedar Valley to prepare for the coming campaign. Croteau was among the youngest goalies in the USHL during 2020/21 and also one of the youngest players on Waterloo's roster. Nonetheless, he was recognized by league coaches and general managers with a place on the USHL All-Rookie Second Team.

The 6-foot, 2-inch netminder won his league debut with 29 saves on 33 shots January 9th versus the Sioux Falls Stampede. It was one of eight instances last season when Croteau faced 30 or more shots; he picked up the victory in six of those contests, including a season-high 34 saves versus the Lincoln Stars on March 14th. Overall, he appeared in 16 games with a 7-6-0 record. Croteau posted a .887 save percentage with a 3.67 goals-against average.

Waterloo acquired Croteau during the 10th round of the USHL Phase II Draft in 2020.

The last player to advance from the Black Hawks to Clarkson was Kevin Charyszyn, who spent his second of two years in Waterloo during the 2016/17 season.
