NORWICH, CT - The Williamsport Crosscutters scored two big runs in the sixth inning to come from behind and take down the Connecticut Tigers 5-3 on Sunday afternoon at Dodd Stadium.

With the game tied at three going into the sixth inning, Scott Green was inserted into the game out of the Tigers bullpen. After inducing two quick outs, Bob Stumpo slapped a base hit and moved up to second on a Green balk. The next batter, Kyrell Hudson, drove him in with a base hit to help the Crosscutters take the lead. They would tack on another insurance run in the inning to go on top 5-3, which would be the final.

Williamsport scored a run in the first and a run in the third to take a 2-0 lead in the game. Connecticut came back with three runs in the third on a Chad Wright RBI double and Dean Green two-run single to take a 3-2 lead of their own.

The Crosscutters tied the game at three in the fourth. After a Cody Asche leadoff double and Stumpo single put runners on the corners, Hudson hit a fly ball to center that was caught by Wright, but was deep enough for Asche to tag up and score from third. They would then go on to score the two runs in the sixth for the win.

Williamsport starter Mike Nesseth tossed six innings, giving up three runs on four hits to earn his third win of the season. Scott Green suffered his first loss for Connecticut.

The Tigers will try to salvage the final game of the three-game series with the Williamsport Crosscutters tomorrow afternoon at Dodd Stadium. First pitch is set for 12:05 PM.
