Crosscutters Begin 2013 With A Win

The bottom third of the Crosscutters lineup came through in the season opener in a 4-2 victory over the State College Spikes Monday night.

Logan Pierce, Gabriel Lino and Justin Parr went a combined seven for twelve and Lino went three for four.

Mitch Gueller picked up the win in his first start for Williamsport, allowing two runs on three hits in five innings of work. The bullpen took care of the rest as Manny Martinez, Rob Marcello and Tyler Buckley went a combined 4 innings, while allowing four hits. Lino hit an RBI single in the second to score Zach Green with the first run of the game in the second inning.

In the fourth, Pierce singled to center field and went to third on a single by Lino, who was thrown out trying to extend his single to a double. Parr delivered an RBI single to score Pierce. Gustavo Martinez doubled to center field and Angelo Mora made it to first on an error by David Washington. Parr scored on the play.

After the Spikes scored two in the bottom of the fourth, Williamsport added one more run in the eighth. Sam Hiciano led off with a walk. Pierce then singled to right field and Lino hit an RBI single to left-center field to score Hiciano.
