[MACON, Ga.] - The Winston-Salem Polar Twins got goals from six different players, including the game-winner from Brett Cross, to defeat the Macon Trax by a 6-5 score Tuesday night in front of a crowd of 1,007 at Macon Centreplex. Trevor Karasiewicz lead the Polar Twins with a goal and three assists.

The Trax got the 3-0 lead in the first period on goals from Craig Miller, Edan Welch, and Lou Dimasi. Macon (16-13) also had 24 shots in the first period while Winston-Salem (8-22) only managed seven.

Things picked up for the Twins in the second as Justin Kot picked up his first goal as a Polar Twin 4:00 into the frame. Trevor Karasiewicz and Rhett Dudley received assists on the play making it 3-1. Karasiewicz netted a goal of his own only 35 seconds later for a 3-2 game.

David Deeves increased Macon's lead to 4-2 at 8:11 of the second but Shaun Aebig answered with his team-leading 13th goal of the season to bring Winston-Salem within one at 4-3. Geoff Rollins then tied the game 4-4 at 11:10 of the middle frame with his seventh goal of the season.

Troy Ilijow gave the Polar Twins a 5-4 lead at the 1:33 mark of the third period with his eighth goal of the season Rollins and Chester Gallant. Craig Miller would answer for the Trax at 6:32 of the third, knotting the game 5-5. With the score deadlocked, Cross stepped up, scoring his fifth goal of the season from Karasiewicz and Kot to give the Polar Twins the 6-5 victory.

Jomar Cruz made 53 saves for the win, improving his record to 4-10 on the season. Nick Niedert posted the loss for Macon, allowing six goals on 28 shots.

"The boys kept battling away even though it was 3-0 after one," said Polar Twins Head Coach Bryan Wells. "We hit the post a few times but we finally got things going and Jomar played great, especially in the last five mins, making five or six great saves to keep us on top."

The Polar Twins travel to Huntsville on Thursday for a rematch of last Thursday's overtime loss to the Havoc. That game will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. Fans can keep up with all of the current Polar Twins scores by visiting Pointstreak.com and clicking on the SPHL link.
