Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Inland Empire completed a winning road trip Thursday as the 66ers (57-65, 26-26) defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm (63-59, 27-25) 6-3. C.J. Cron had three RBI in the win and scored another run. His RBI total is now up to 115 on the year, pushing him past 2012 National League All Star Brian LaHair who had 113 for Inland Empire in 2005.
C.J. Cron was almost all Inland Empire needed at the plate against the vaunted Lake Elsinore pitching staff. Of the team's first five runs Cron drove in or personally scored four of them. Ryan ones added an RBI triple on the night and Taylor Lindsey scored twice for the 66ers.
On the mound Manaurys Correa delivered his second straight quality start, pitching seven innings while permitting just three runs. Correa got better as the night went on, retiring 15 of the last 16 he faced. Where he left off closer Ty Kelley picked things right back up. Kelley got a six out save, facing the minimum in both the 8th and 9th. Kelley now has two wins and three saves in six appearances for Inland Empire.
The victory combined with a Lancaster loss Thursday means Inland Empire makes up a game on both the Storm and the JetHawks, leaving them five games out of the playoffs with 18 games left to play in the regular season. Inland Empire begins a crucial three game series with the Lancaster JetHawks Friday night at 7:05 pm at San Manuel Stadium. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
