Crew Soccer Foundation Announces Support of Fundraising Efforts for Lieutenant Stu Tudor
November 21, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - The Crew Soccer Foundation today announced that it has committed up to $10,000 of matching funds for donations to Columbus Fire Department's Lieutenant Stu Tudor, who survived a lightning strike in the parking lot of Crew Stadium while participating in a Get Behind The Badge fundraiser for firefighters and police officers prior to the club's scheduled match on June 28, 2014. Tudor and his family are asking for donations to help with the costs of healthcare. The family's official Go Fund Me Page (http://bit.ly/1zAirfc) remains the location for Crew SC fans to donate over the next 30 days in which the club's charitable arm will supplement the financial support.
"The Crew Soccer Foundation is proud to support Lt. Tudor and hope that many will join these efforts," said Crew Soccer Foundation Vice President Jamie Ryan. "Any donation of any amount from a single fan goes a long way in helping a member of our Crew SC family in need of assistance."

"Lt. Tudor, myself, and the Tudor Family cannot thank the entire Columbus Crew SC organization enough for their kind generosity in our fundraising campaign," said Lisa Watford, partner of Lt. Tudor. "Since this unfortunate incident occurred, the organization has reached out and supported us in every way. With the rising medical costs in Lt. Tudor's rehabilitation, financial support from fans and the organization will allow us to continue to secure quality care and support for Lt. Tudor. Since it is rare for someone to survive this type of serious lightning strike, we are optimistic about his recovery and hope that Lt. Tudor someday will be able to attend future soccer matches at Crew Stadium."
