Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Crew returns to the friendly confines of Crew Stadium Saturday, for a confrontation with the defending MLS Cup-champion San Jose Earthquakes, on the heels of its dramatic 2-1 win in overtime at New England Wednesday on Edson Buddle's golden goal in stoppage time of the second OT period.
Saturday's match, at which Sunny 95 morning show host Stacy McKay will sing the national anthem, will mark the third time in six weeks the Crew and Quakes will have met. Each team has won at home, San Jose coming from behind to claim a 3-2 victory at Spartan Stadium on May 4 and Columbus shutting out the Quakes, 2-0, at Crew Stadium on May 18.
Saturday's match will be preceded by the championship game of the Inaugural Men's Crew Cup tournament which has been going on since June 1. Surviving from the 20-team field to play on the Crew Stadium field at 4 p.m. Saturday were Soccer First and the Senegal Lions.
