Crew Returns Home To Face Colorado

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Monday, June 21) — The Columbus Crew returns home to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Crew Stadium.

Columbus saw its seven-game unbeaten streak snapped on Saturday in D.C., losing 3-1 at RFK Stadium. The Crew is 4-4-3 (15 pts.) on the year and in fourth-place in the Eastern Conference, but just two points behind first-place Chicago in the tightly packed East. Colorado is in last place (fifth) in the Western Conference with a 2-3-6 record and 12 points.

Saturday's game can be heard in English on The New Eagle, 103.9 or online through TheCrew.com and MLSNet.com. It can also be heard in Spanish on AM-1550.

HEJDUK AND SCOTT RETURN FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE NATIONAL TEAM DUTIES

The Crew's Frankie Hejduk and Erick Scott return from their respective National Teams for Saturday's Crew game vs. Colorado. Hejduk was with the U.S. for their two-game, aggregate-goal World Cup qualifying series against Grenada, while Scott was with Costa Rica for their qualifying series against Cuba. The U.S. defeated Grenada 6-2 the in total-goals series, while Costa Rica survived a scare against Cuba, tying 3-3 in total goals, but advancing to the semifinal round of qualifying by outscoring Cuba 2-1 in away goals. Hejduk played the full 90 minutes in the U.S.'s 3-2 win in the second game in Grenada.

The semifinal round of World Cup qualifying will be played from Aug. 18 to Nov. 17, 2004. The semifinal round will consist of three four-team groups playing a six-game round robin competition, with the top two finishers from each group moving onto the final round of qualifying in 2005.

The four-team, six-game CONCACAF qualifying group for the U.S. includes Jamaica, Panama and El Salvador, while Costa Rica will meet Canada, Guatemala and Honduras. The USA will open the semifinal round of FIFA World Cup qualifying in Jamaica on Aug. 18. The six-game, round-robin group continues with the U.S. at home on Sept. 4 in Foxboro, Mass. (against El Salvador), and on the road on Sept. 8 in Panama. A road game on Oct. 10 in El Salvador and then consecutive home games on Oct. 13 (against Panama) and Nov. 17 in Columbus, Ohio (against Jamaica) follow.

CREW SPECIALTY OHIO LICENSE PLATES GO ON SALE TODAY

Columbus Crew specialty Ohio license plates will go on sale on Monday, June 21. The plates will feature the logo of the Columbus Crew, Ohio's only Major League Soccer team. The specialty license plates will cost $35 in addition to standard license plate renewal fees, with $25 going to the Sports Commission and $10 going to the State of Ohio. The specialty plates can also be personalized with up to six characters for an additional $35. The specialty plates are available at any Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicle office or at www.oplates.com. Registration forms can also be obtained by calling 888-752-8373. The Crew plates are available to the drivers of passenger vehicles, noncommercial trucks, motor homes and noncommercial trailers.

Euro 2004 is currently being shown in the Huntington Club at Crew Stadium. The European Championships began on June 12 and run through the July 4 final.
