COLUMBUS Ohio - Columbus Crew General Manager Mark McCullers today issued the following statement regarding the death of club Founder Lamar Hunt:
"On behalf of the entire Columbus Crew family, it is with great sadness that we mourn the death of our beloved founder. Lamar Hunt was our organization's heart and soul and there are truly no words that adequately describe our loss. Lamar's example of humility, compassion, character and integrity was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to us all. His legacy in Columbus is embodied by Crew Stadium, which represents his pioneering vision for soccer-specific stadiums and his unwavering commitment to the development of soccer in central Ohio and throughout the nation."
