July 25, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Columbus Crew SC News Release

COLUMBUS - The Columbus Crew (5-7-8, 23 points) begins a two-match road stretch with a trip to Gillette Stadium to face the New England Revolution (7-10-2, 23 points) on Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is televising the game, with Dwight Burgess and Chris Doran on the call. Neil Sika is set to describe the action for 95.5 The Game, with Carlos Cordova and Juan Valladares behind the microphone for La Mega 103.1 FM.

Fans that cannot make the trip to New England can join Crew legend Frankie Hejduk at Scioto Downs Racino (6000 S High St, Columbus) at 6:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Bud Select Party Patio to watch live horse races before the Crew's match. Those that arrive early are eligible for an opportunity to win a Scioto Downs Racino prize pack and one lucky fan will win the chance to ride in the starting gate car with Hejduk. At 7:30 p.m. ET, fans should head to the Veil Bar inside Scioto Downs Racino to watch the clash with Budweiser drink specials starting as low as $3.75. Steel Creek Band is set to play after the match at 10:00 p.m. ET. Fans must be 21 or older to attend the event.

After five matches this month, including four League tilts and an international friendly, this Eastern Conference clash rounds-out July for the Crew. It is the first meeting of the season between the Crew and Revolution and the Revs are the lone Eastern Conference foe the Crew has yet to meet in 2014. The two sides are set to play two additional times this year, with the Revs making their only visit of the season to Columbus on September 20 and the Crew returning to Foxborough on October 4. The Crew is 29-20-11 all-time against the Revs but has dropped the previous four tilts, with the last coming on October 27, 2013.

The Crew's 29 wins against the Revs are the most versus any opponent in Black & Gold history, more than opponents D.C. United (24 wins against), New York (24 wins against) or Sporting KC (21 wins against). The Crew has Vice Captain Wil Trapp available for selection following a one-match suspension for a red card that he served on July 19 against Montreal. New England enters the match on a seven-match losing streak while both clubs begin the weekend with 23 points on the campaign.

Saturday's clash is the first for Crew Captain Michael Parkhurst against his former club, New England. Drafted by the Revs in the First Round (ninth overall) in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, Parkhurst played every single minute of his first season as a professional and earned MLS Rookie of the Year honors en route to the first of three consecutive MLS Cup Final appearances with New England. Following the 2006 season - in which he was named MLS Humanitarian of the Year - the defender was a part of the club's first-ever title in 2007 when the Revs secured the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. That season, Parkhurst was also named MLS Defender of the Year and a member of MLS Best XI. 2007 also marked the first of two consecutive seasons in which he earned the MLS Fair Play Award, as the defender was not issued a red card in four seasons of action. With Parkhurst, the Revs won the 2008 Superliga title the following season in his final campaign in New England.
