Columbus Crew SC News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Monday, August 7, 2006) - The Crew will resume MLS action this weekend when the Black & Gold travel to Kansas City to take on the Wizards on Saturday, August 12, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium.

Saturday's game will be televised locally on ONN. It can also be heard in English on The Brew @ 105.7 or on-line on TheCrew.com and MLSNet.com. The Crew (4-9-8, 20 pts) sits in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, but only seven points out of second after a 0-0 tie at Chicago on Saturday, July 29. Kansas City is in fifth-place in the East at 6-11-3 (21 pts.) and plays a mid-week game at New England on Wednesday.

Single-game tickets for the 2006 home season are on sale at the Crew Stadium Box Office, all Central Ohio Ticketmaster retail locations, via Ticketmaster phone at 614-431-3600 and on-line at TheCrew.com.

Fans can become Crew Soccer Nation members by purchasing pro-rated, full-season ticket packages or partial plans, starting as low as $30 for the new Crew 3-Packs. Group tickets are also available. All ticket packages or plans are available through TheCrew.com and 614-447-CREW.

11 GAMES REMAINING FOR THE CREW, CRUNCH TIME AHEAD

If The Crew is going to secure a playoff spot for the eighth time in 11 years, then it is going to have to make a move over the course of its last 11 games. Despite sitting in sixth and last place in the Eastern Conference, The Crew is only seven points behind second-place New England. The top four teams in each conference advance to the MLS Cup playoffs. One positive for Columbus is that it has finished its four-game season series with D.C. United, the top team in the league, while three of the teams ahead of The Crew (New England, New York and Chicago) have to face D.C. two more times each. Below are the standings for the Eastern Conference and the winning percentage for the remaining opponents of each team.
