Crenshaw Named Pitcher of the Week

GARY, IN -RHP Dustin Crenshaw of the Gary South Shore RailCats has been named this week's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week the American Association announced Monday. Pointstreak is the official statistician of the American Association. Crenshaw is the first RailCats player to receive player/pitcher of the week honors this season.

Crenshaw for the week ending June 8th made two starts for the RailCats picking up two wins in both outings. The Pinole, California native was part of the RailCats Wednesday June 4th double header sweep and dual shut out wins over Sioux City. Crenshaw went the distance in game one retiring the first 16 batters he faced in the seven inning contest. He surrendered only one hit and no runs with no walks and two strike outs in the RailCats 2-0 win.

On Sunday at US Steel Yard Crenshaw again was spot on for Gary in a three game sweep of Sioux Falls. The right hander part of the RailCats four man rotation went another seven solid innings giving up one run on four hits adding four strikeouts in the RailCats 7-1 win.

Crenshaw is now 2-1 on the season and beginning play on June 9th has the league's 6th lowest ERA at 1.70. In his last four starts Crenshaw has allowed only three earned runs in 26.0 IP for the RailCats and has only issued five walks on the season with 19 strikeouts in 37.0 IP.

Crenshaw was signed by Gary in the offseason after two seasons in the CAN-AM League with the Quebec Capitales and pitched collegiately at the University of South Alabama.
