
Crawford Leads Moncton to 4 - 2 Win Over Lewiston

Moncton, NB â Veteran goaltender Corey Crawford blocked 42 of 44 shots to lead the Moncton Wildcats to a 4 â 2 victory over the visiting Lewiston MAINEiacs before 3,159 at the Moncton Coliseum on Sunday.
The Chicago Black Hawks' draft pick improved his season record to 3 â 1 â 0, as Moncton moved into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division and into a three-way tie for first place overall in the QMJHL with a record of 4 â 1 â 0 (8 pts). Lewiston is still looking for their first win of the season with a record of 0 â 1 â 1. Moncton had period leads of 2 â 1 and 3 â 1. Martins Karsums (3rd) led the Wildcats scoring with one goal and one assist, while singles came from Steve Bernier (6th), Bruce Graham (3rd) and Christian Gaudet (1st). Adam Pineault, Stephane Goulet, Luke Pelham and Yan Ouimet each added one assist. Alex Bourret (2nd, 3rd) scored both goals for the MAINEiacs.
Lewiston outshot Moncton 44 â 38, including 13 â 11 in the first, 15 â 13 in the second and 16 â 14 in the third. Jonathan Bernier (0 â 1 â 1) blocked 34 of 38 shots to suffer the setback. Moncton was 1 for 5 on the powerplay, while Lewiston went 1 for 6. The game's three stars were #1 â Corey Crawford, #2 â Alex Bourret and #3 â Yan Ouimet.
Wildcats return to action on Friday when they travel to Cape Breton to face the Screaming Eagles before returning home to host the Screaming Eagles on Sunday, October 3rd in a 4 pm contest at the Moncton Coliseum.
