Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes corralled their ninth consecutive victory with a win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Tuesday night, defeating their South Division rival by the final tally of 5-0.
As the Quakes (54-34, 13-7) swept the Storm (44-44, 9-11) for the second time in as many weeks, Leo Crawford stole the show with the most dominant pitching peformance of 2019.
Crawford (4-3), notching his fourth win in his last six outings, hurled a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts, just three hits and no walks. Despite throwing 92 pitches through eight frames, the southpaw from Nicaragua trotted out for the ninth, finishing with 104 pitches and 75 of them for strikes.
Offensively, Dodgers' rehabber, A.J. Pollock, and the 19 year-old, Miguel Vargas, led the way. Pollock tallied his first hit as a Quake, sending a solo shot over the right-field wall in the top of the first. Vargas went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
As Rancho looks for a double-digit win streak, LHP Austin Hamilton (3-1) will make his fifth start of the campaign. On the other side, the San Jose Giants will send RHP Dereck Rodriguez to the mound for the first time.
Rancho Cucamonga returns to LoanMart on Wednesday, July 10th, hosting the Giants for a three-game set. Terra Vista Animal Hospital presents Bark in the Ballpark, as all four-legged friends are welcome to yard with the purchase of a $3 pet pass.
