Cranley Collects First OHL Shutout in 67's 2-0 Win over Steelheads

Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's made it four consecutive wins on Saturday afternoon, when they defeated the Mississauga Steelheads by a score of 2-0, in a game where sophomore goalie Will Cranley collected his first career shutout in the OHL, recording 31 saves. Marco Rossi and Jack Quinn were the two goal scorers for the Barber Poles. Cranley's first shutout came in front of the whole nation, as this game was played throughout the country on the Sportsnet broadcast.
The game's first goal, which for a while seemed like it would be the game's only goal, was scored halfway through the opening frame by Austrian forward Marco Rossi, when he tipped in a puck with his backhand from a tight angle to finish off a nice passing play by Joseph Garreffa and Austen Keating behind Steelheads netminder Kai Edmonds. Cranley was solid in that first period, stopping 14 pucks.
After a scoreless second period, it looked as if the game was headed to a 1-0 final score, before the Steelheads pulled their goalie in the final moments of the game in order to attempt to tie things up, but it was the 67's who benefited from that strategy, as Jack Quinn scored his 13th of the season in the empty net to put the final nail in the coffin, giving the Barber Poles a 2-0 win.
The 67's will look to improve their win streak to five straight this week, when they travel to Kingston on Wednesday to face off against the Frontenacs. Ottawa will be back on home ice as soon as this upcoming week-end, when they go head to head against the Oshawa Generals on Sunday afternoon, and the North Bay Battalion on Sunday afternoon.

Head Coach André Tourigny
"Some nights, it can be like tonight, we had problems with our execution, but you still need to be a good team out there to find a way to win and I think our guys played well, played the right way and we came up with a big win. Will was really good, I'm really happy for him, he's a good kid and he works really hard so it's good to see him rewarded like that."
