
Craigen Lifts Slammers to O.T. Win

The Alabama Slammers played the first of two consecutive road games on Saturday night in Miami, Florida, and went to overtime winning 6-5. It was the second consecutive win for the Slammers, who have now moved into a tie with Miami for second place. The Slammers are 24-17-3 (51 points) on the season. Slammers rookie forward Mike Craigen ripped a shot home just 2:10 into overtime on his eighth goal of the season. Alabama's Doug Lawrence notched his league leading 59th and 60th assists of the season, while defenseman Bobby Quinnell tallied his fifth goal of the year. Goaltender Jamie Ronayne was spectacular in goal for the Slammers stopping 50 of Miami's 55 shots for his 15th win of the season.
Alabama plays the second of two straight road games on Sunday, when it visits the Macon Trax at 2:05 p.m. With a win over the Trax on Sunday, Alabama can take over sole possession of second place. All the action will be broadcast live on irn.fm.
The Slammers return home for ¬ÅThirsty Thursday ¬Â night at the Pelham Civic Complex on Thursday, March 4 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Jacksonville Barracudas. They also host the Lakeland Loggerheads that weekend, on Friday, March 5 at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free giveaway, courtesy of Hooters.
