Florida Seals News Release
Orlando â Craig Miller's goal with 1 minute, 56 seconds remaining in the first period lifted the Macon Trax to a 2-1 victory over the Orlando Seals Saturday at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Orlando falls to 0-4-1 in its last five and finishes February with a 2-5-3 record for the month. The Seals also drop to fourth place in WHA2 standings with Alabama's 6-5 overtime victory at Miami.
Former Seal Matt Brown gave the Trax a 1-0 lead at 9:21 of the first, beating Sean Varriale for his 2nd goal of the season and his first with Macon.
B.J. Stephens tied it at 1-1 with less than three minutes left in the first. Stephens out-muscled the Macon defender and managed to get a one-handed shot off, simply sweeping the puck along the goal line. The puck bounced off the skate of Macon goaltender Andy Kollar and into the net for Stephens' 28th of the season. The tally puts Stephens one behind Miami's Oak Hewer for the league-lead.
Kollar was strong in net for Macon, stopping 39 of the 40 shots he faced, including several point blank attempts by the Seals.
The Seals travel to Lakeland Sunday for a 4:05 p.m. start. This is a change from the original 7:05 p.m. face off. The game will be joined in progress on AM 740 The Team early in the first period. The game can also be heard at www.IRN.FM.
