Cracker-Cats slash T-bones

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Cracker-Cats kicked off their final homestand of the season Tuesday night at TELUS Field. An announced crowd of 1613 turned out to watch the ‘Cats defeat the Kansas City T-bones 5-1.

Edmonton giant, 6-foot-8 right-hander, Brett Lawson pitched 6.1 innings, striking out eight batters to record his fourth win of the season, improving to 4-3 on the year. The Cracker-Cats sent eight batters to the plate in the fifth inning with RBI's from Stubby Clapp, Chris Becker and Aharon Eggleston. After a walk to designated hitter Derek Patterson, Patterson and Eggleston completed a double steal with Eggleston swiping home for the fourth run of the inning off right-hander Jonathan Krysa. Shortstop Stubby Clapp led the charge for the ‘Cats, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a run batted in.

Kansas City catcher Sean Flynn (2-for-4) and second baseman Gabby Delgado (2-for-5, 1 RBI) led the offensive attempt for the T-Bones. Kansas City starter Krysa lasted seven innings allowing five runs (one earned) and striking out seven.

Edmonton lefty Aric Van Gaalen and right-hander Jim Harrison threw the final 2.2 innings to mop up the game.

The series resumes Wednesday night with right-hander Greg Bicknell (15-5, 2.92) throwing for the T-Bones against Edmonton left-hander Roberto Avilez (6-9, 5.09). Gates open at 6:05 for a 7:05 first pitch. The first 1000 fans will receive a baseball cap courtesy of Elite Sportswear.
