Cracker-Cats return for final homestand

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Cracker-Cats return home Tuesday, August 30 after going 4-2 on their previous six-game road trip. Centre fielder Aharon Eggleston led the team, hitting .458 (11-for-24) with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI during the trip. Eggleston is now hitting third in the line-up with the departure of veteran Jeremy Ware to Team Canada. First baseman Brandon Kaye continued his good hitting on the road, posting a .435 (10-for-23) average with six RBI during the trip. Reliever Jim Harrison led the pitching staff with two saves, while working eight innings, allowing only one run and striking out seven batters. Right-hander Brett Lawson is the projected starter for the final day of the season on September 4th.

On Tuesday the Kansas City T-Bones make the only trip to Edmonton, having not seen the Cracker-Cats since the first series of the season. The T-Bones are currently 17-25 for in the second half, fifth in the South Division.

Players of interest are:

- Right-hander Greg Bicknell: Greg leads the league with a 15-5 record. He has posted a 2.92 ERA (154.1 IP - 50 ER) in 21 starts. He is second on the team with 101 strikeouts.

- Outfielder Greg Jacobs: Greg leads the team with a .349 batting average and a .586 slugging percentage. He has also knocked out 10 homers while driving in 43 runs for the T-Bones this season.

- First baseman Ray Brown: Ray is hitting .315 with a team leading 27 double and 59 RBI this season. He has only struck out 30 times while drawing 36 walks in 85 games played.

On Friday, September 2nd, the Winnipeg Goldeyes come to finish the season. Entering this series the Goldeyes hold a commanding 8-2 lead in the season series and are 2-1 in Edmonton this season. Winnipeg is currently second in the North Division second half with a 24-18 record, 2.5 games ahead of the Cracker-Cats.

Some players of interest are:

- Designated Hitter Harry Berrios: Harry is second in the league with a .353 batting average and leads the Goldeyes with 68 RBI. He is also second on the team with 25 doubles.

- First baseman Donnie Ross: Ross is hitting .297 but leads the team with 15 home runs. He is also second on the Goldeyes with 62 RBI on the year.

- Second baseman Ralph Santana: Santana is hitting .302 with 30 RBI this year but more notably is second in the league with 40 stolen bases on the season.
