Central Valley Coyotes News Release
(Fresno, Calif.) - The Central Valley Coyotes (1-1) look to rebound after a last second loss 50-47 to the Stockton Lightning (1-1) last Saturday night when Lightning kicker Alex Walls hit a 39-yard field goal as time expired. The Coyotes will take on the Tri-Cities Fever (0-2); this will be the first ever meeting between the two as the Fever are in their first year.
The Fever will be looking for their first ever franchise win after losing their first two games of the season by the combined score of 11 points. In their first game of the season, the fever lost to the Mahoning Valley Thunder (2-0), 40-48, and lost their game last weekend to the Bakersfield Blitz (2-0) 45-48.
After opening the season with a big win over the Everett Hawks (0-2), the Coyotes had entered Stockton Arena with high hopes, but left disappointed. Special teams were one of largest disappointments with missed extra points and short kicks. One change on special teams is a change at kicker, the Coyotes replaced kicker Greg Kuehn with Derek Pearson (Central Connecticut State). The Coyotes will look for Pearson to correct the missed extra points and short kick offs that have plagued them in the first two games of the season.
The Coyotes will also be without the services from Marquell Stinson (FB/LB) and possibly Tierre Sams (DB) both were injured in Stockton last weekend. The Coyotes will be looking for other players to step up and fill the void.
The Central Valley Coyote dance team "The Valley Girls" will be hosting their annual dance clinic prior to the game this weekend. Call the Coyotes office at (559) 263-9780 or visit www.centralvalleycoyotes.com for more information.
The Coyotes return home on April 28 renewing their rivalry with the Bakersfield Blitz, kick off for that game will be 7 P.M. The Coyotes will be hosting their first ever "Raider Nation" night, NFL Hall a Famer Fred Biletnikoff Sr., Cliff Branch, and Members of the Raiderettes will be on hand prior to the game to sign autographs.
