Coyotes fall to Dillas 5-2

Anemic is one word you could use to describe the offence tonight for the coyotes as they could only muster up 2 runs and 4 hits. The Dillas would out hit the Coyotes 11-4 on their way to a 5-2 victory.

The scoring would start in the bottom of the second as Eric Gonzalez would tag up at second base on a long fly ball hit to center by Jose Olmeda. The defense would be caught napping as Gonzalez would come all the way from second to score the games first run.

A Schneidmiller RBI single would but the first points on the board for the Dillas as they would get 2 in the top of the second to take the lead 2-1. Amarillo would not let go of that lead as they added a run in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the 8th.

The Coyotes four hits would come from the 1 and 2 hitters Grijalava and Gonzalez as they had 2 each. Neomar Flores (3-0) will pitch tomorrow against the (1-1) Mike Kesten.

The Edinburg Coyotes are part of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is in its inaugural season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 90-game schedule between May and August 2006.
