Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
LAREDO, Texas- The Edinburg Coyotes (20-28) lost to the Laredo Broncos (24-24) 4-0 in a rain shortened game. The game ended in the bottom of the fifth inning after plate umpire Woody Belle decided the field was not suitable for the players. Carlos Jan (1-1) received the loss after only giving up four runs on three hits. He was struggling with bad footing on the mound because of the weather but continued to play after walking five batters. The only scoring of the game occurred in the bottom of the third inning. Anthony Bennett was hit by the first pitch from Jan. After an error, runners were on first and third with no one out. Dwayne White then hit an RBI single to right field to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. Luany Sanchez then hit the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for his 12th home run of the season to extend the lead to 4-0. The Coyotes had opportunities to score but could not capitalize on their base hits as they scattered seven hits throughout the night off of Sean Donlin (2-2). After a whole month of playing baseball, the Coyotes will have a much needed day off on Wednesday. The Coyotes will open up a three game series against the San Angelo Colts starting Thursday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
