Coyotes Crush Broncoes 7-2

Edinburg, TX; August 9, 2007-Edinburg Coyotes pitcher Eric Montoya threw eight outstanding innings allowing two unearned runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking two leading Edinburg to a 7-2 win over Laredo Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Bronco's offense started off early scoring their only two runs in the contest notching only two hits with the runs scored on errors. The Coyotes fired back in the bottom of the inning dominating Laredo starting pitcher Jose Cordero starting with back to back walks for Angelo Fermin and Eric Gonzalez, they both advanced one base due to an error by Cordero, with Eric Allen hitting a single to left field picking up the two RBI's to tie things up. The Coyotes weren't done there gaining three more runs in the inning giving them the lead 5-2 after the first.

Edinburg advanced their lead by picking up one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Cordero was replaced by Juan Jimenez after walking three Coyotes to start off the eighth inning. Edinburg sent in Julio Castro who pitched a perfect ninth inning striking out two to seal the win.

Next up, the Coyotes travel to San Angelo for a three game weekend series with the Colts. They return home on August 17th where they will face Amarillo for a three game series, then close out the season facing the Laredo Broncos in three games.

The Edinburg Coyotes are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League in its second season with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 100-game schedule between May and August 2007.
