Coyotes Assign Cunningham to Falcons, Two Signed to AHL Deals

Springfield, MA - Arizona Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Craig Cunningham to the Springfield Falcons. In a separate transaction, the Falcons have signed forwards Phil Lane and Ross Mauermann to an AHL contract after beginning the season on a Professional Tryout Contract.

The 25-year-old Cunningham averaged 10:35 of ice time in six games with the Coyotes. The native of Trail, British Columbia registered 5-4-9 and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 12 games with the Falcons this season before being recalled by the Coyotes on Nov. 15. Cunningham was originally drafted by the Bruins in the fourth round (97th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft and acquired by the Coyotes off waivers from Boston on March 2, 2015.

Lane, 23, has tallied 1-2-3 and 37 PIM in 17 games with the Falcons this season. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound native of Rochester, NY has amassed 21-20-41 and 186 PIM in 179 career AHL games with the Falcons and the Portland Pirates. Lane was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft.

The 25-year-old Mauermann has collected 1-3-4 in 19 games with the Falcons this season. The 5-foot-9, 183-pound native of Janesville, WI is playing in his first professional season out of Providence College where he won the NCAA Championship last season.
