Cleveland Monsters News Release

CLEVELAND - In the seventh of eight meetings between the two teams this year, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters were defeated by the Iowa Wild on Thursday at The Q by a final score of 4-2. With the loss, the Monsters' first regulation defeat at home this season, Lake Erie fell to 12-5-1-2 overall this season and with a .675 points percentage, currently sit tied with the Milwaukee Admirals for second place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

The Monsters started the scoring at 10:50 of the opening frame on Thursday when Josh Anderson netted his fourth goal of the season on the power-play with T.J. Tynan and Dean Kukan collecting assists on the play. Then, John Ramage pushed the Lake Erie lead to 2-0 at 15:32 of the middle frame with his first goal of the season, set up by a well-executed transition feed from Trent Vogelhuber.

Iowa stormed back late in the second period, posting back-to-back tallies from Jordan Schroeder at 15:46 and Zack Mitchell at 17:24 to knot the game at two apiece heading into the third. Two more Wild goals in the final stanza, from Christian Folin and Grayson Downing on the power-play at 5:39 and 7:09 respectively, established Iowa's final margin of victory at 4-2 and snapped the Wild's league-wide season-long 13-game winless streak.

Iowa's Leland Irving claimed victory in net thanks to a 31-save performance while Monsters backstop Joonas Korpisalo fell to 5-3-2 overall this season despite making 27 saves for Lake Erie.
