Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, NE - For the ninth consecutive season, Cox Communications is sponsoring Home Run for Youth Day at Rosenblatt Stadium. Thousands of area school kids will receive a ticket to attend the Omaha Royals game vs. the New Orleans Zephyrs on Tuesday, April 22nd at 11:05 a.m., courtesy of Cox.

All K-12 students in Cox's service area have been invited to the game. This season has had the largest response in the program's history, with over 12,000 students and 67 schools participating, according to Cox's spokesperson Kristen Gohr.

"Cox's Home Run for Youth Day with the Omaha Royals has become a tradition within our community," said Gohr. "Schools start calling us at the beginning of the year so they can reserve it on their calendars. Cox is thrilled to be able to provide thousands of area students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend a baseball game with a fun and educational outing."

"The great response for this year's Cox Communications Home Run for Youth Day is very exciting," said Royals Assistant General Manager/Group Sales Eric Leach. "We are excited that the partnership with Cox Communications is reaching so many kids in the Omaha metro and surrounding areas. We hope that their day at the ball park will continue on into the classroom and that the children and teachers will be able to use baseball as an educational tool."

Preceding the first pitch of next Tuesday's game students from Gomez Heritage Elementary School will sing the National Anthem. One student will be chosen at random to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. During the seventh inning stretch, ten Mountain View Elementary School students will lead the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
