Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK - The Express returned home Friday to one of the warmest crowds in franchise history, but the buzz wasn't enough to help them snap out of a two-game skid.
Round Rock used five pitchers to try and stop Memphis, which put up 13 runs and reached base 15 times in a 4-2 downing of the Express in front of 12,135 fans, the ninth largest crowd in Dell Diamond history.
Mark Saccomanno went 2-for-4 to lift his batting average to .245 and extend his hitting streak to a season-high four games. Yordany Ramirez also picked up a pair of hits, reached on a walk, drove in a run and scored a run.
Starter Josh Muecke held the Redbirds at bay through three innings before Memphis used three hits to jump out to a 3-1 lead. A pair of lead-off walks and a trio of singles, combined with two fruitless singles in the fifth, chased Muecke (1-2) from the game.
Chad Paronto, Carlos Hines and Tim Byrdak combined to work 3 2/3 scoreless innings before Brian Barden's ninth inning solo homer to left.
