
Cowan Strong in Relief for the Lemurs

Laredo, TX - A three run fifth put the Laredo Lemurs (41-34) up to stay as they go on to beat the El Paso Diablos (24-49) 6-4 on Monday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
With the Lemurs trailing 4-2 they came to the plate and saw Mike Provencher double with one out. Harrison Kain then stepped to the plate and hit a ground ball to third. The third baseman Devin Thaut over threw the first baseman, which allowed Provencher to score and put Kain at third for a 4-3 Diablos lead.
Jimmy Mojica would bat next, singling to drive home Kain to tie the game at four. Stephen Douglas added to the inning with a doubl,e driving in Mojica to give the Lemurs a 5-4 lead.
Jake Cowan, who is normally a Lemurs starter, made a relief appearance behind the start of Michael Suk. Cowan came in the game with one out in the fifth and was on his game, going three and a third, giving up one hit, with two walks, and one strikeout to earn the win.
Diablos starter, Kevin Cooper went eight, giving up six runs, on nine hits, with four walks, and two strikeouts in a losing effort.
The win puts the Lemurs a half game back behind the Amarillo Sox in South Division with 25 games to go in the 2013 season.
