Erie Otters News Release

Adam Courchaine was terrific in net as he fended off 47 of 51 Brampton Battalion shots, but his effort was not enough as the Erie Otters lost at Powerade Centre Thursday night, 4-2.

After a scoreless first period, the Otters went on the board 1:57 into the second as Anthony Luciani passed the puck from behind the net to Andrew Yogan at the top of the crease, and the Florida native buried it for his 22nd goal of the season.

Luciani picked up another assist on the Otters second goal as he dropped a pass to Shawn Szydlowski in the slot, and Szydlowski fired it past the glove of Patrick Killeen for his 12th goal of the season at 7:21.

From that point forward in the second period, the Battalion took control with three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission. Philip Lane scored the first two goals and Scott Tanski finished off a tic-tac-toe play from the returning Cody Hodgson and former Otter Sean Jones to give the Battalion the lead.

Yogan nearly tied the game midway through the third, but his wrist shot from the left circle rang off the glove side post. Sam Carrick would later a power play goal off of a deflection to end the Otters hopes for a comeback with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

The Otters return for four straight games at Tullio Arena, starting Friday night with a match against the Windsor Spitfires at 7:00 p.m. The first 500 fans receive a stress puck, courtesy of Servpro. Tickets can be purchased at Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, the Erie Civic Center box office, or by calling 452-4857.
