Tonight is the fifth meeting between the Kalamazoo Wings and Quad City Mallards. With a record of 2-1-1, Kalamazoo leads the season series against Quad City. After tonight, the team's will face-off just one-more time on March 30th in Moline, Illinois.
Last Wednesday saw the end of the K-Wings two-game winning streak and the beginning of a stretch that will keep Kalamazoo home for eight of their next 10 games. On the season, Kalamazoo is 15-8-3 inside the friendly confines of Wings Stadium.
This evening will conclude a two-game road swing for the Mallards. Quad City enters Wings Stadium looking to snap a two-game road losing streak. The Mallards are in third place in the Western Conference and nine points behind the K-Wings for fourth place overall in the United Hockey League.

Killing Time
All season long, the K-Wings have demonstrated the art of killing off penalties and lately have taken it to another level. Over their last eight games, the league's top rated penalty kill (90.3%), has success killed off 38 of their opponents last 40 chances, including 18 in a row.
Power Surge
It's not just the penalty kill turning heads around the league; the K-Wings power play has also been effective. Kalamazoo's power play, which is fourth in the league (16.8%), has scored at least one goal in four straight games and is 46.1% during the current four-game stretch.
Putting Up the Points
Two K-Wing players enter the game on impressive multi-game point streaks. Kory Karlander has registered a point in each of his last eight games, while Nick Bootland has reached the scoring column in their last five games.
Good Down the Stretch
In the Mark Reeds era, the K-Wings seem to play their best hockey beginning on Pink Ice. Including this year, the K-Wings are 64-18-7 (75.8%) under Mark Reeds in contests played on and after the Annual Pink Ice Game.
