Countdown to Face-Off
January 14, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
For the fourth time this season the Kalamazoo Wings will battle the Motor City Mechanics; however, unlike the three previous meetings, tonight's encounter will occur at Wings Stadium. On the season, the K-Wings are 2-1-0 against their Central Division rivals.
Coming into tonight's game the K-Wings are winless in their last two games (0-1-1). Despite the recent setback, the K-Wings still have a 16 point lead over the Mechanics for second place in the division. Kalamazoo starts the night just five points behind Muskegon for the division's top spot.
Like Kalamazoo, the Motor City Mechanics have also gone on a recent dry spell. The Mechanics come into Wings Stadium winless in their last two games. Motor City enters tonight just one point ahead of Port Huron and two points ahead of Flint for third place honors in the division.

Vilneff Reaches 200
With his first shift in tonight's game defenseman Mark Vilneff will reach a personal milestone. Vilneff will become only the second player in K-Wings UHL history to have played in 200 or more games. The K-Wings UHL all-time leader in games played is Randy Holmes (1999-2002), who played in 215 games for Kalamazoo.
Closing In on Milestones
Both Kory Karlander and Tyler Willis are closing in on a personal milestone. Karlander needs two more points to reach 400 for his career, while Willis needs just one more goal to reach 100 for his career.
Against Their Own
Three of the K-Wings next four games will be against Central Division opponents. On the season, Kalamazoo is 11-3-1 against their own division.
