Countdown to Face-Off
October 22, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Tonight will be the first of six meetings between the K-Wings and Generals. This season, besides being intra-state rivals, Kalamazoo and Flint will also be division rivals in the newly formed Central Division. Last season, for the first time in their UHL history, the K-Wings won the season series against the Generals with a record of 4-0-1.
Kalamazoo starts the week tied with the Port Huron Beacons for second place in the Central Division and just two points behind Muskegon for the division lead. Yannick Carpentier, who leads the K-Wings in scoring with 3 points, is also on a six game scoring streak, which dates back to last season. Tonight also marks the final game of a three game road swing for Kalamazoo. After tonight's game, the K-Wings will return home to Wings Stadium for their home opener tomorrow night against the Beacons.
Flint enters tonight's game looking for their first win of the season. The Generals, who lost their first two games of the season last weekend, finish up their three game home stand tonight. Flint will hit the road for the first time this season tomorrow night when they travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana to play the Komets. In two games, Flint has registered 236 minutes in penalties, which leagues the United Hockey League. The Generals are led by Bobby Reynolds, who leads Flint in scoring with 4 points.
